The Daily Grind
The Complete Article
by CmdrBond
NOTE: Due to the length of this article I have created two different options for reading it. You can read The Complete Article in its entirety or you can read the article in parts starting with Part 1.
When I first started playing Star Trek Fleet Command (STFC) there were maybe a dozen or so daily goals. Fast forward to today and there are so many things to do on a daily basis: Daily Goals, Gifts, Faction Reputation, Events, Away Teams, Syndicate, etc. The quantity of things that can be, or need to be (depending on your perspective), performed on a daily basis are so numerous that it is difficult to keep track. Now, this is not all bad as this means that you have a multitude of playing options on a daily basis. However, it does create more opportunities to forget something: did I join my Faction Reputation for the one I’m working on, did I check the Faction Store for each faction to claim the message rewards, did I check the Faction Store for Rogue and Augment Rewards, did I check the Refinery, did I check the Away Teams Gift Store, did I check the Consumables Gift Store, etc. I can tell you that I have forgotten some of these multiple times.
To overcome the issue of forgetting items, I decided to create a sort of checklist to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. Obviously, your check list can be a mental one or a physical one, whatever works best for you. To help you get started below is a list of the locations where you can find the things that you can do on a daily basis. This list is also the basis for the sections within this article.

As you can see from the length of this list there are a lot of places that you need to remember to go. But once you get there what do you do? Do you need to do everything? Are there things to avoid? Let’s dive into the details of each of these sections and I will share some recommendations as to what to do when you get there.
Daily Goals

Daily Goals List
First up is the Daily Goals list. You get to the Daily Goals list by clicking on the yellow Exclamation button in the lower left of the main screen (Figure 1). The completion of each of the goals in the Daily Goals list will give you valuable rewards along with Milestone points where you can earn even more rewards (Figure 2 thru Figure 9).

For me, the Milestone point reward levels are 50, 90, 140, 190, and 260 (Figure 9). You can see the Milestone rewards that I get for each points level in Figure 10 thru Figure 14. Your Milestone rewards may differ from the examples shown here as they are based upon your Operations Level as you can see in Figure 15.

Figure 13: Daily Milestone Rewards - 190 points |
Figure 14: Daily Milestone Rewards - 260 points |
Figure 15: Level up for more rewards |
NOTE: The rewards that you receive for each of the Daily Goals will be different for each player based upon your Operations level and your Faction Reputation level among other factors. NOTE: Keep in mind that you may not want to claim a reward if it negatively affects your Faction Reputation level as discussed in the article Faction Tips: Gaining Respected Status in All Three Factions. NOTE: Each day at midnight Eastern Standard Time (EST) the Daily Goals list resets. You have to claim the rewards that you wish to claim before the reset or you lose out on the rewards.
As far as the Daily Goals List is concerned, I have broken the list into three main types and the rest of the goals within the Daily Goals List I have categorized as minor goals. The three main types are: Mining, Hostiles, and Swarms. With just the completion of the main goal types I can achieve 255 Milestone points which is only five points shy of the points needed to achieve all of the Milestone goals. This means that completing any other Daily Goal will allow me to complete all of the Milestone rewards.
Of the three main Daily Goal types, the first type is Mining. There are two mining goals in the Daily Goals list called Miner and Excavator for each faction respectively for a total of six goals (Figure 16 and Figure 17). And there is one generic mining goal called Spelunker (Figure 18). As mentioned earlier, you may not want to claim a reward if it negatively affects your Faction Reputation level as discussed in the article Faction Tips: Gaining Respected Status in All Three Factions. I only collect the faction mining goals for the Faction Reputation that I’m currently working on; and I collect the Spelunker goal as it does not negatively affect any Faction Reputation.
These daily mining goals are typically easy to achieve; but this will depend on your servers’ particular rules, if any, regarding mining and attacking miners. On server 37, miners are protected by the server’s rules of engagement (ROE), unless they are over their protected cargo limit (OPC) or they are on a zero node. Be sure to check how your server works in this regard and adjust your strategy accordingly.
For server 37, when mining Level 2 or 3 materials, find a node that will meet your goal(s) and determine how long it will take to mine the node. Then start mining so that you will finish after reset. Ideally you will want to have a protected cargo limit high enough that you will not be attacked until after you have met your goal.
As far as level 4 or 5 materials, these are located in Deep Space. Currently on server 37, Deep Space mining is completely protected due to the limited amount of people able to reach Deep Space and due to the large number of materials required at Operations level 38 and beyond. So, you can still follow the same guidance as for level 2 and 3 materials; but you don’t have to worry about being over your protected cargo amount. Be sure to check how your server operates and adjust your strategy accordingly.

The next of the three main Daily Goal types is Hostiles. Regarding the daily Hostile goals, there are two generic goals, both named Hostile Harbinger (Figure 19), and two goals for each faction called Warrior and Champion (Figure 20, Figure 21, Figure 22, and Figure 23) for a total of eight Daily Goals for Hostiles. NOTE: As a reminder, you may not want to claim a reward if it negatively affects your Faction Reputation level as discussed in the article Faction Tips: Gaining Respected Status in All Three Factions. Also, as stated in the article, you may want to only focus on hostiles from a particular faction, specifically for the faction whose reputation that you are currently working on. NOTE: In addition, you may want to focus on specific hostiles such as survey ships or scout ships in order to support any Faction Reputation goals that you may have.

The last of the three main Daily Goal types is Swarms. There are five separate daily Swarm goals with different parameters for each goal (Figure 24, Figure 25, Figure 26, and Figure 27). Initially you will use the USS Franklin to achieve these goals; but eventually you will need to build the USS Franklin-A and use it in order to complete these goals. As you can see from my Daily Goals list you get a 3x bonus for using the Franklin-A (Figure 24, Figure 25, Figure 26, and Figure 27).

The remaining Daily Goals I consider to be minor goals. These, in no particular order, are named: Power Creep, Prime Real Estate, Research Projects, Alliance Solidarity, Alliance Unity, Fortune Finder, Looter, Away Team Leader, Exocomp Commander, Cloaked Bandit, and Cloaked Assassin.
The easiest of these minor Daily Goals to complete are the Alliance Solidarity and Alliance Unity. You simply have to help your alliance members when help requests populate. You will know when help requests populate by the appearance of the joined hands icon in the upper right of the main screen (Figure 28). You can also complete these minor Daily Goals by contributing to your alliance thru the Alliance button located in the lower left of the main screen (Figure 28). Once you click on the Alliance button you will be brought to the Alliances screen (Figure 29). Click on Contribute and you will be brought to the Alliance Contribution page (Figure 30). You can choose between contributing Parsteel, Tritanium, or Latinum. NOTE: Contributing Parsteel or Tritanium will not only help you to complete the Alliance Solidarity and Alliance Unity goals, but it will also help you to complete the Daily Faction Reputation goal which is explained in the Daily Faction Reputation section of this article. This follows a strategy of Resource Management which will be discussed in a future article.

|
Other minor Daily Goals that are easy to complete are the Fortune Finder and Looter goals. You simply have to claim three of the “4 Hr Free Chests” for the Looter goal (Figure 31). However, this does require you to log on a few times throughout the day. For the “24 Hr Free Chest” you only need to claim it once for the Fortune Finder goal (Figure 31). NOTE: While the reset timer for the “4 Hr Free Chest” is 4 hours, the reset timer for the “24 Hr Free Chest” is 22 hours (Figure 32).
Figure 31: Gifts - 4 Hr & 24 Hr Free Chest
|
Figure 32: Gifts - 4 Hr & 24 Hr Free Chest - Reset Timer
|
The remaining minor Daily Goals are relatively easy to complete as well. One is the Away Team Leader where you only have to complete one Away Team Assignment. See the Away Team section of this article for more detail on Away Teams. Another is the Exocomp Commander where you only have to activate one Exocomp Consumable. Then there are the Power Creep, Prime Real Estate, and Research Projects. You simply need to complete one research project for the Research Projects goal. And, you simply need to complete one station module upgrade for the Prime Real Estate goal. By completing one or both of these goals, you will increase your power and potentially complete the Power Creep goal which requires you to gain a certain amount of power. Lastly, are the Cloaked Bandit and Cloaked Assassin goals which require you to have the cloaking capability and defeat one or more hostiles or players while cloaked.
NOTE: Remember, you will have to check your specific requirements for all of your Daily Goals so that you know what you need to accomplish for each as they will vary based on multiple factors such as Operations Level, Faction Reputation level, etc. In addition, the Swarm goals are affected by your Franklin ship strength.
NOTE: How the goals are listed in the Daily Goals list will vary. And, when you claim a goal and the list updates, the order may change. This is important to remember if you try to quickly claim multiple goals. The list may update and the order might change in the midst of clicking claim. This may cause you to accidently claim a reward that you didn’t mean to claim such as a reward that negatively affects your Faction Reputation.
Claim Section

Gifts
The next daily focus is located in the Gifts tab under the Claim section. We touched on this briefly in the Daily Goals section of this article. You get to the Gifts tab by clicking on the Claim Chest in the upper right of the main screen (Figure 33). In the Gifts tab, you have the “4 Hr Free Chest” and the “24 Hr Free Chest” mentioned in the Daily Goals section of this article. NOTE: While the reset timer for the “4 Hr Free Chest” is 4 hours, the reset timer for the “24 Hr Free Chest” is 22 hours (Figure 32).
You also have the Transwarp Cells which you need in order to get to certain Borg systems (Figure 34). And, you have Tetryons which are required for cloaking once you have that capability (Figure 34). Once you claim the Tetryons or Transwarp Cells the reset timer is 22 hours (Figure 40). Also, if you log into the PC version of the game you have access to a “BONUS 24 Hr Free Chest” (Figure 41) which will give you a couple of rewards (Figure 42). Once claimed the reset timer is 22 hours (Figure 43). NOTE: The “BONUS 24 Hr Free Chest” will not complete the Fortune Finder goal mentioned in the Daily Goals section of this article.
NOTE: There is a limit to how many Tetryons and Transwarp Cells that you can have at any given time (Figure 34). Compare the look of the Tetryon and Transwarp Cells claim boxes when you have the ability to claim these items (Figure 34) and when you are at max capacity for these items (Figure 35). However, you can still click on claim even if you are at max capacity but you will receive an alternative gift. See Figure 37 for the alternative Tetryon gift and Figure 39 for the alternative Transwarp Cell alternative gift.

Lastly, although it’s not a daily option, I want to explain the Loyalty Chests (Figure 44) as how these are claimed have recently changed and because the way you earn the ability to claim them is tied to your Daily Goals List. When you complete enough daily goals to claim all of your Milestone rewards you will earn a Loyalty Badge (Figure 46). Once you have at least seven of these Loyalty Badges you can claim the 7-Day Loyalty Chest (Figure 45). As a part of the 7-Day Loyalty Chest rewards, you earn one Allegiance Token (Figure 47). Once you have earned at least four Allegiance Tokens you can claim the 30-Day Loyalty Chest (Figure 48). There are a multitude of valuable rewards in both of these Loyalty Chests.

Resources
The next daily focus is located in the Resources tab under the Claim section. You get to the Resources tab by clicking on the Claim Chest in the upper right of the main screen (Figure 49). Located in the Resources tab are Reward Packs which are only available if you have purchased a Reward Pack. So, if you have purchased one, you definitely do not want to forget to claim it each day (Figure 50). To the right of the Reward Packs are Parsteel, Tritanium, and Dilithium options. The resource items located here are one of a few ways to access your tokens for each of these resources. NOTE: If you select these resource items, you will move your resource (Parsteel, Tritanium, or Dilithium) from the token form to your station repository which then makes it vulnerable to theft if you forget to shield and your station is attacked. So, it is best to leave these resources in token form until you need them (Figure 51 and Figure 52).

Alliances
The next daily focus is located in the Alliances tab under the Claim section. You get to the Alliances tab by clicking on the Claim Chest in the upper right of the main screen (Figure 53). In order to claim items in this tab you need to participate in regular Uncommon, Rare, and Epic Armadas (not Eclipse Armadas) and collect Uncommon, Rare, and Epic Armada Loot once you defeat these Armadas (Figure 54, Figure 55, and Figure 56). Once you claim the Armada Pack rewards the reset timer for all of the Armada Packs is 22 hours (Figure 66).
NOTE: Be aware that as your Operations Level increases so does the amount of Armada Loot required to claim the rewards from the Armada Packs. See the Armada Loot Requirements at Operations Level 45 for Uncommon, Rare, and Epic Rewards in Figure 57, Figure 58, and Figure 59. And, see the Armada Loot Requirements at Operations Level 45 for G4 Uncommon, G4 Rare, and G4 Epic Rewards in Figure 60, Figure 61, and Figure 62. While the Armada Loot Requirements at Operations Level 45 for Uncommon, Rare, and Epic Rewards do not differ from Operations Level 46, compare the previous G4 Armada Loot Requirements at Operations Level 45 to the Armada Loot Requirements at Operations Level 46 for G4 Uncommon, G4 Rare, and G4 Epic Rewards in Figure 63, Figure 64, and Figure 65.
NOTE: G4 rewards only become available once you unlock Level 4 ships. NOTE: Be aware that in each of the Armada Packs you will get better rewards if you wait until you can claim the maximum amount of chests offered.

Territory
Next up is the Territory tab under the Claim section. You get to the Territory tab by clicking on the Claim Chest in the upper right of the main screen (Figure 67). The items located in this tab that we will talk about in this article will cost either Grade 1 Raw Isogen or Iso-Emulsion. These items that are most important are: Fortified Baakonite, Parsteel, Tritanium, and Dilithium.
This means that you will need to mine, or steal, Isogen and refine it on a regular basis to acquire Iso-Emulsion which is discussed in the Territory Tab under the Refinery section of this article.
One of the most important items in this tab, if you have the Sarcophagus ship, is the Fortified Baakonite (Figure 68). You can obtain Fortified Baakonite by purchasing it with Grade 1 Raw Isogen. This means that you will need to mine, or steal, Grade 1 Raw Isogen on a regular basis. NOTE: There is a limit to how much Fortified Baakonite you can have on hand (Figure 70).
Fortified Baakonite is very important as it is used to repair the Sarcophagus so you will want to have plenty on hand if you are actively taking or defending territories with the Sarcophagus (Figure 70). If you run out of Fortified Baakonite while the Sarcophagus is damaged or destroyed then you are stuck. You are stuck because if run out of Fortified Baakonite you cannot repair your Sarcophagus. And, when a ship is damaged or destroyed you cannot switch the ship until it is repaired. This means your dock is locked into that ship until that ship is repaired.
Some other very useful items are the Parsteel, Tritanium, and Dilithium options where you can use Iso-Emulsion to purchase these resources (Figure 69). This means that you will need to mine, or steal, Raw Isogen and refine it on a regular basis to acquire Iso-Emulsion which is discussed in the Territory Tab under the Refinery section of this article. For each of these three resources you can choose between one, two, or three-chest options; but, beware the cost of these chests increase exponentially but the rewards do not (Figure 71, Figure 72, and Figure 73). So, unless it is an emergency, purchasing the one-chest option is the best choice.
Another good option, if the option is available, are the ISS Jelly blueprints. If your alliance owns a territory with ISS Jelly blueprints as a bonus, the ISS Jelly option will become available (Figure 68). This will help you obtain the ISS Jelly much faster than normal.

Consumables
Next up is the Consumables tab under the Claim section. You get to the Consumables tab by clicking on the Claim Chest in the upper right of the main screen (Figure 74). First, as you can see in Figure 75, you must be at Operations Level 16 or above and construct the Exocomp Factory building in order to obtain and activate Exocomp Consumables. NOTE: When your Exocomp Factory is at level one you will only have access to Grade 2 Exocomp Consumables. At Exocomp Factory level 25 you unlock Grade 3 Exocomp Consumables. And, at Exocomp Factory level 40 you unlock Grade 4 Exocomp Consumables. Lastly, at Exocomp Factory level 51 you unlock Grade 5 Exocomp Consumables.
In Figure 76 you can see that there are five items available to claim (This will differ based upon your Exocomp Factory level). From left to right they are: Axionic Chips, Combat Exocomp Consumables, Mining Exocomp Consumables, Utility Exocomp Consumables, and Premium Exocomp Consumables.
Axionic Chips are used to purchase the Exocomp Consumables. The amount of Axionic Chips that you can claim on a daily basis will increase as the level of your Exocomp Factory increases. At Exocomp Factory level one you can claim 5 Axionic Chips per day up to 282 Axionic Chips per day at Exocomp Factory level 60.
The Combat Exocomp Consumables offer different types of combat boosts and Axionic Servos. As you can see in Figure 78, I currently have access to Grade 3 Combat Exocomp Consumables. The Mining Exocomp Consumables offer different types of mining boosts and Axionic Servos. As you can see in Figure 79, I currently have access to Grade 3 Mining Exocomp Consumables. And, the Utility Exocomp Consumables offer different types of Utility boosts and Axionic Servos. As you can see in Figure 80, I currently have access to Grade 3 Utility Exocomp Consumables. As mentioned above, the Grade of Exocomp Consumables that are available to you will depend on the Grade that you have unlocked through your Exocomp Factory. NOTE: Axionic Servos, which can be obtained in each of the Exocomp Consumable claim boxes listed above, are required to upgrade your Exocomp Factory once it reaches a certain level.
The Premium Exocomp Consumables claim box gives you access to all three types of Exocomp Consumables. Remember, as stated above, the Grade of Exocomp Consumables will depend on the Grade that you have unlocked through your Exocomp Factory. Also, the Premium Exocomp Consumables only become available when your Exocomp Factory reaches level 25.
Lastly, as you can see in Figure 82, once you claim your Axionic Chips and Exocomp Consumables the reset timer is 22 hours with the exception of the Premium Consumables claim box option. With the Premium Consumables claim box you can continue to claim the Premium Consumables option as long as you have enough Axionic Chips. The overall drop rate: 3x Exocomp Consumables - Grade 3 (95%) or Grade 4 (5%) per chest. The drop rate for Grade 3 Exocomp Consumables is: Common - 36%, Uncommon - 44%, and Rare - 15%. The drop rate for Grade 4 Exocomp Consumables is: Common - 2%, Uncommon - 2%, and Rare - 1%. All Exocomp Consumables of the same rarity have an equal chance.

Away Teams
Next up is the Away Teams tab under the Claim section. You get to the Away Teams tab by clicking on the Claim Chest in the upper right of the main screen (Figure 83). There are a multitude of options available which appear to be based upon your Faction Reputation level for each faction respectively (Figure 84, Figure 85, Figure 86, and Figure 87). Keep in mind that all of the items in this section cost Away Team Credits to purchase. This means that you will need complete Away Team Missions with Away Team Credits as a reward which is discussed in the Away Team Missions section of this article.
The only options in this tab, in my opinion, that are worth purchasing are the Faction Reputation options for whichever Faction Reputation you are focused on and possibly the Rogue Reputation. However, I think the priority should be on whichever Faction Reputation you are focused on. The ship blueprint options are just too expensive for the number of blueprints that you get to be worth utilizing unless you need one or two blueprints to get your ship to the finish line. The Faction Reputation options are very helpful to get you to the Respected level where the first reputation lock occurs. This is explained in the article Faction Tips: Gaining Respected Status in All Three Factions. The Faction Reputation options are also useful to get you to the second and final Faction Reputation lock which occurs at the Champion level for each faction. For each of the three faction options in this tab you can choose between one, two, or three-chest options; but, beware the cost of these chests increase exponentially but the rewards do not (Figure 90). So, purchasing the one-chest option is the best choice. Lastly, once you purchase one of the Faction Reputation options, the reset timer is 22 hours (Figure 91).

Materials
Next up is the Materials tab under the Refinery section. You get to the Materials tab by clicking on the Refinery button in the upper left of the main screen (Figure 92). Keep in mind that all of the items in this tab require certain amounts of either Grade 2, 3, 4, or 5 raw Crystal, Gas, or Ore in order to be able to refine these materials in the appropriate claim boxes. The Grade level of the materials that you have the ability to refine will depend upon your Operations Level. You will need these materials on a regular, reoccurring basis. This means that you will need to mine, or steal, these materials in order to refine them in the appropriate claim boxes. While stealing can be an option, especially in the territories, a much more consistent option is to mine it yourself. Mining the materials will also meet one of the Daily Goals discussed in the Daily Goals section of this article.
As far as which chest option to choose when refining the materials, I have found that I have consistently received better rewards on average by selecting the two-chest option (Figure 94 thru Figure 102). Also, as you can see in Figure 103 and Figure 104, once you refine each of the materials the reset timer is 10 hours in duration. This makes it somewhat challenging to refine materials on a timely basis for optimal refining. With that in mind, I will refine when the option becomes available while I am logged into the game; but I do not make a special effort to log in every 10 hours. This follows a strategy of Resource Management which will be discussed in a future article.
One other item to note, is that on the Materials tab in the upper right of the screen (Figure 93) you will only see the quantities of the highest Grade of raw materials that you have in your inventory. In order to see the quantities of the lower Grades of raw materials that you have in your inventory, you have to go to the claim boxes for those lower Grade levels. Then the quantity of raw material that you have for that particular Grade will be displayed in the upper right of the screen. For example, look at Figure 94. I have clicked on the Grade 2 Crystal claim box to open this screen and the quantity of Grade 2 Raw Crystal that I have on hand is displayed in the upper right of the screen. Using this method to check the quantities of raw materials that you have in your inventory is quite tedious. The better option is to click on the Items button which is next to the Refinery button in the upper left of the main screen (Figure 92) and then navigate to the appropriate tab on the bottom of the next screen.

Ship Parts
Next up is the Ship Parts tab under the Refinery section. You get to the Ship Parts tab by clicking on the Refinery button in the upper left of the main screen (Figure 105). NOTE: The Ship Parts tab only becomes available once you unlock Grade 4 ships. In this tab you can refine broken parts for refined parts which are used to upgrade Grade 4 ships.
Broken Parts are received from defeating hostiles in Deep Space systems. Defeating hostile interceptors will give you “Broken Parts - Interceptor” (Figure 107), defeating hostile explorers will give you “Broken Parts - Explorer” (Figure 108), defeating hostile battleships will give you “Broken Parts - Battleship” (Figure 109), and defeating hostile survey ships will give you “Broken Parts - Survey” (Figure 110). Once obtained, these Broken Parts can be refined in this tab to receive Refined Parts for each type of ship. The Refined Parts are then used to upgrade your Grade 4 Explorers, Interceptors, Battleships, and Survey ships respectively.
Once you have Grade 4 ships and access to this tab of the Refinery section, you can easily obtain the required Broken Parts during your Daily Goals as discussed in the Daily Goals of this article. As explained in the Materials tab of the Refinery section of this article, I have found that I have consistently received better rewards on average by selecting the two-chest option if I have enough Broken Parts to select the two-chest option. You should also beware that the cost of these chest options increases disproportionately (Figure 107, Figure 108, Figure 109, and Figure 110).
Lastly, as you can see in Figure 111, once you refine each of the Broken Part types the reset timer is 10 hours in duration. This makes it somewhat challenging to refine Broken Parts on a timely basis for optimal refining. With that in mind, I will refine when the option becomes available while I am logged into the game; but I do not make a special effort to log in every 10 hours. This follows a strategy of Resource Management which will be discussed in a future article.

Territory
Next up is the Territory tab under the Refinery section. You get to the Territory tab by clicking on the Refinery button in the upper left of the main screen. (Figure 112). The items located in this tab require: Grade 1, 2, or 3 Refined Isogen (Figure 115, Figure 116, and Figure 117), Progenitor Alloy (Figure 118), or Iso-Emulsion (Figure 123) in order to be able to purchase items from the appropriate claim boxes.
First up is Grade 1, 2, or 3 Raw Isogen. Grade 1 Raw Isogen can be refined into Refined Isogen and Iso-Emulsion (Figure 115). Grade 2 Raw Isogen can be refined into Refined Isogen, Iso-Emulsion, and Progenitor Alloy (Figure 116). Grade 3 Raw Isogen can be refined into Refined Isogen, Iso-Emulsion, and Progenitor Alloy (Figure 117). You will need Grade 1, 2, or 3 Raw Isogen on a regular, reoccurring basis in order to refine it as described above. This means that you will need to mine, or steal, the Grade 1, 2, or 3 Raw Isogen amounts that you require. Unlike in the Materials tab section of this article, stealing Grade 1, 2, or 3 Raw Isogen is a good option, especially in the territories, due to the speed at which it is usually mined and how quickly miners go Over their Protected Cargo (OPC). Although stealing is a good option, a much more consistent option is to mine it yourself. NOTE: Although Grade 1 Raw Isogen is easily mined in the Rogue systems, mining Grade 2 and 3 Raw Isogen requires you to be in an alliance that owns a territory which contains Grade 2 or 3 Raw Isogen. So, whether you own the appropriate territories or not may dictate which is the better option: stealing, mining, or possibly both.
Next up are the Progenitor items of which there are four: Emitters, Diodes, Cores, and Reactors. These items require Progenitor Alloy to purchase. As mentioned above, Progenitor Alloy is obtained by refining Grade 2 or 3 Raw Isogen (Figure 118). As far as the items that you can purchase with Progenitor Alloy: Progenitor Emitters are used by Alliances to pay for services in Level 2 and 3 Zones within the Territories (Figure 119), Progenitor Diodes are used by Alliances to pay for services in Level 2 and 3 Zones within the Territories (Figure 120), Progenitor Cores are used by Alliances to pay for services in Level 2 and 3 Zones within the Territories (Figure 121), and Progenitor Reactors are used by Alliances to pay for services in Level 2 and 3 Zones within the Territories (Figure 122). Take note that within each of the Progenitor items in this tab, you can choose between one, two, or three-chest options; but, beware the cost of these chests increase exponentially but the rewards do not (Figure 119 thru Figure 122). So, purchasing the one-chest option is the best choice.
The last item in this tab is the Iso-Resin claim box. The Iso-Resin claim box requires Iso-Emulsion to purchase (Figure 123). As mentioned above, Iso-Emulsion is obtained by refining Grade 1, 2, or 3 Raw Isogen. You will receive the following items when purchasing from this claim box: Iso-Resin, Phantom Particles, Quantum Particles, Surax Particles, and Metreon Particles (Figure 124). Each of these items are used to complete certain Territory Research located within the R&D Building in your Station. Take note that in the Iso-Resin claim box, you can choose between two-chest or three-chest options; but, beware the cost of these chests increase exponentially but the rewards do not (Figure 124). So, purchasing the two-chest option is the best choice.
Lastly, once you claim items in this tab, the reset timer is 22 hours (Figure 130 Figure 131).

Discovery
Next up is the Discovery tab under the Refinery section. You get to the Discovery tab by clicking on the Refinery button in the upper left of the main screen (Figure 132). There are two claim boxes in the Discovery tab: Mycelium Greenhouse and Discovery Refinery (Figure 133).
Within the Mycelium Greenhouse claim box, you will need Mycelium Spores (Figure 136) which can then be converted into Cultivated Mycelium (Figure 135). Cultivated Mycelium is used to power the USS Discovery’s Spore Drive for instantaneous warp and summoning capability. To obtain the required Mycelium Spores for conversion, you will either need to mine it, steal it, or you can obtain it by completing the Anomalous Phenomenon event which appears every so often. Usually, completing the Anomalous Phenomenon event will give you enough of the Mycelium Spores but you can mine them if you need to. To mine Mycelium Spores, you will want to use the USS Discovery as its mining rate for them is greater than any other ship. A few of the systems where you can mine Mycelium Spores are: Cada-X, Sae, and Babishta. Lastly, once you refine your Mycelium Spores, the reset timer is 22 hours (Figure 139).
The Anomalous Phenomenon event mentioned above will also reward you with Discovery Refinery Tokens (Figure 138) which are required to purchase chests in the Discovery Refinery (Figure 137). NOTE: Currently, the Anomalous Phenomenon event is the only way to obtain the Discovery Refinery Tokens. NOTE: These are only daily tasks as long as you have the required Mycelium Spores or Discovery Refinery Tokens.
Another important thing to remember is that there is an 18,000 limit for Cultivated Mycelium (Figure 135). Once you reach this limit you will not be able to refine any more Mycelium Spores into Cultivated Mycelium (Figure 134) until you use the Cultivated Mycelium and your total on hand goes below the limit.

Resources
Next up is the Resources tab under the Refinery Section. You get to the Resources tab by clicking on the Refinery button in the upper left of the main screen (Figure 140). There are multiple items of interest in this tab. There are USS Franklin-A blueprints, as well as Parsteel, Tritanium, and Dilithium. There are also components to upgrade your Franklin (Figure 141 and Figure 142).
First, if you have a maxed USS Franklin, you can obtain the USS Franklin-A blueprints here which are located in the Franklin 2.0 Blueprints claim box. To purchase the blueprints, you need to scrap your original USS Franklin. When scrapping your original USS Franklin, you will receive the Franklin Adv Data Cores (Figure 144). If you scrap a max level original USS Franklin you will be able to retrieve all of the blueprints needed to build the USS Franklin-A (Figure 143).
Next, you can trade Swarm Adv Biotics (Figure 145) for Parsteel, Tritanium, and Dilithium (Figure 146, Figure 147, and Figure 148). NOTE: The description for Swarm Adv Biotics appears to be incorrect. You receive Swarm Adv Biotics by completing the Swarm Hunter and Swarm Slayer goals as described in the Daily Goals List section of this article.
Next, you can trade Swarm Biominerals (Figure 149) for Parsteel, Tritanium, and Dilithium (Figure 150, Figure 151, and Figure 152). You receive Swarm Biominerals by completing the three different Swarm Watcher goals as described in the Daily Goals List section of this article.
Next is the Frequency Modulator claim box. Here you can exchange Frequency Modulators (Figure 154) for Frequency Modulator MK. IIs (Figure 155). Frequency Modulator MK. IIs are used to upgrade components of the USS Franklin-A. Frequency Modulators can be obtained by killing Swarm Clusters which you will be doing on a daily basis for your Daily Goals as described in the Daily Goals List section of this article.
NOTE: This is one of the best places to stock up on Parsteel, Tritanium and Dilithium. Lastly, once you claim any of the resources, the reset timer is 22 hours (Figure 156 and Figure 157).

Borg Tech
Next up is the Borg Tech tab under the Refinery section. You get to the Borg Tech tab by clicking on the Refinery button in the upper left of the main screen (Figure 158). There are multiple items in this tab that are of value such as: Charged Nanoprobes, Active Nanoprobes, Faction Reputation, and Faction Credits (Figure 159, Figure 160, and Figure 161).
First are the Charged Nanoprobes. These are used to upgrade components on your Vi’dar and to purchase other items under this tab (Figure 163). You purchase the Charged Nanoprobes using Inert Nanoprobes (Figure 164) which are obtained by defeating Borg hostiles (Figure 162).
Next are the Active Nanoprobes. These are used to upgrade your Borg officers. You purchase the Active Nanoprobes using Inert Nanoprobes (Figure 165) which are obtained by defeating Borg hostiles (Figure 162).
Next are the Independent Credits. Independent Credits, which are used to level up your Independent Officers, are one of the hardest resources to obtain and this is one of the best options for obtaining them. You can purchase the Independent Credits using Charged Nanoprobes which are described above (Figure 166).
Next up is the Latinum Antique Refinery. This claim box becomes visible and available once you upgrade your Vi’dar to Tier 7 or higher. There are some nice rewards to be claimed here some of which are extremely rare such as the: Epic Latinum Transwarp Cell and Lucrative Grade 3 Mines Transwarp Cell. The Epic Latinum Transwarp Cell (Figure 169) gets you access to special systems and the Lucrative Grade 3 Mines Transwarp Cell (Figure 170) gets you access to systems with fast Grade 3 mines. These fast Grade 3 mine systems are: Perek (Crystal), Forin (Ore), or Mira (Gas).
To purchase the chest in the Latinum Antique Refinery you need Latinum Antique (Figure 167) which is very hard to get. You can only obtain this resource by finding and killing rare Borg Hostiles. NOTE: These rare Borg Hostiles are found in Borg systems and behave similar to faction scouts.
Lastly, all items in this tab, once selected, have a reset timer of 22 hours (Figure 173 and Figure 174).

Latinum
The last tab under the Refinery section is the Latinum tab. You get to the Latinum tab by clicking on the Refinery button in the upper left of the main screen (Figure 175). Once you reach this tab you will see only one claim box (Figure 176). After clicking on “View” you are presented with a 1-chest option or a 2-chest option (Figure 177). There is no disparity between options so the largest option you can afford is the better choice. Either choice requires Raw Latinum and will give you Refined Latinum along with a chance for D’Vor Parts (Figure 177). Once you claim either chest option in the Raw Latinum claim box, the reset timer is 22 hours (Figure 178).
To obtain the necessary Raw Latinum you will need to mine, or steal, it on a regular, reoccurring basis in order to refine it as described above. Unlike in the Materials tab section of this article, stealing Raw Latinum is a good option, especially during Latium mining events, due to the speed at which it is usually mined and how quickly miners go Over their Protected Cargo (OPC). Although stealing is a good option, a much more consistent option is to mine it yourself. With two D’Vors I can spend a few hours mining which will last me several weeks of refining. Look at the upper right of Figure 177 where you can see that I have almost 10 million in Raw Latinum. This was after a recent mining session as described above.

Federation
Next up is the Federation Faction Store located in the Factions section. You get to the Federation Faction Store by clicking on the Factions button in the upper left of the main screen (Figure 179). In the Federation Faction Store there are a multitude of valuable items that you can purchase but your access to them is dependent on your Federation Reputation level (Figure 180). While the items that are most important will depend on you and your current circumstances, here are some items that I recommend looking at when you have access to them: Klingon Message Exchange, recruit tokens, ship blue prints, badges, cloaking shards, and materials. Although there are many useful items in the Federation Faction Store, the Klingon Message Exchange will be the only item covered in this article as a part of the Daily Grind.
The most import item within Federation Faction Store, in my opinion, is the Klingon Message Exchange (Figure 181) which can be used to obtain Federation Credits. To purchase the Federation Credits in the Klingon Message Exchange you will need to obtain Klingon Messages. Klingon Messages are obtained by killing Klingon Scouts. Killing Klingon Scouts may also apply to your Daily Goals as explained in the Daily Goals List in this article and will help your Federation Reputation as discussed in the article Faction Tips: Gaining Respected Status in All Three Factions.
Once claimed the reset timer for the Klingon Message Exchange is 22 hours (Figure 182). You will want to ensure that you obtain enough Klingon Messages so that you can purchase the Federation Credits on a daily basis as this is a valuable resource for obtaining Federation Credits. And, Federation Credits can be used to upgrade officers and purchase ship blueprints among other things.
NOTE: What you see in the examples below may differ slightly from what you see in your Federation Faction Store as the items available are based upon your Federation Reputation Level. For example, at the Federation Respected Level the Klingon Message Exchange option will cost 180 Klingon Messages for 350 Federation Credits, but at the Federation Glorified Level the Klingon Message Exchange option will cost 1,000 Klingon Messages for 630 Federation Credits (Figure 181).

Klingon
Next up is the Klingon Faction Store located in the Factions section. You get to the Klingon Faction Store by clicking on the Factions button in the upper left of the main screen (Figure 183). In the Klingon Faction Store there are a multitude of valuable items that you can purchase but your access to them is dependent on your Klingon Reputation level (Figure 184). While the items that are most important will depend on you and your current circumstances, here are some items that I recommend looking at when you have access to them: Romulan Message Exchange, recruit tokens, ship blue prints, badges, cloaking shards, and materials. Although there are many useful items in the Klingon Faction Store, the Romulan Message Exchange will be the only item covered in this article as a part of the Daily Grind.
The most import item within Klingon Faction Store, in my opinion, is the Romulan Message Exchange (Figure 185) which can be used to obtain Klingon Credits. To purchase the Klingon Credits in the Romulan Message Exchange you will need to obtain Romulan Messages. Romulan Messages are obtained by killing Romulan Scouts. Killing Romulan Scouts may also apply to your Daily Goals as explained in the Daily Goals List in this article and will help your Klingon Reputation as discussed in the article Faction Tips: Gaining Respected Status in All Three Factions.
Once claimed the reset timer for the Romulan Message Exchange is 22 hours (Figure 186). You will want to ensure that you obtain enough Romulan Messages so that you can purchase the Klingon Credits on a daily basis as this is a valuable resource for obtaining Klingon Credits. And, Klingon Credits can be used to upgrade officers and purchase ship blueprints among other things.
NOTE: What you see in the examples below may differ slightly from what you see in your Klingon Faction Store as the items available are based upon your Klingon Reputation Level. Romulan
Next up is the Romulan Faction Store located in the Factions section. You get to the Romulan Faction Store by clicking on the Factions button in the upper left of the main screen (Figure 187). In the Romulan Faction Store there are a multitude of valuable items that you can purchase but your access to them is dependent on your Romulan Reputation level (Figure 188). While the items that are most important will depend on you and your current circumstances, here are some items that I recommend looking at when you have access to them: Federation Message Exchange, recruit tokens, ship blue prints, badges, cloaking shards, and materials. Although there are many useful items in the Romulan Faction Store, the Federation Message Exchange will be the only item covered in this article as a part of the Daily Grind.
The most import item within Romulan Faction Store, in my opinion, is the Federation Message Exchange (Figure 189) which can be used to obtain Romulan Credits. To purchase the Romulan Credits in the Federation Message Exchange you will need to obtain Federation Messages. Federation Messages are obtained by killing Federation Scouts. Killing Federation Scouts may also apply to your Daily Goals as explained in the Daily Goals List in this article and will help your Romulan Reputation as discussed in the article Faction Tips: Gaining Respected Status in All Three Factions.
Once claimed the reset timer for the Federation Message Exchange is 22 hours (Figure 190). You will want to ensure that you obtain enough Federation Messages so that you can purchase the Romulan Credits on a daily basis as this is a valuable resource for obtaining Romulan Credits. And, Romulan Credits can be used to upgrade officers and purchase ship blueprints among other things.
NOTE: What you see in the examples below may differ slightly from what you see in your Romulan Faction Store as the items available are based upon your Romulan Reputation Level. Augment
Next up is the Augment Faction Store located in the Factions section. You get to the Augment Faction Store by clicking on the Factions button in the upper left of the main screen (Figure 191). In the Augment Faction Store there are a multitude of valuable items that you can purchase but your access to them is dependent on your Augment Reputation level (Figure 192). While the items that are most important will depend on you and your current circumstances, here are some items that I recommend looking at when you have access to them: Common Plutonium, Uncommon Plutonium, Rare Plutonium, Augment Credits, and Augment Recruits.
The most import of these items, in my opinion, in regards to the Daily Grind is the Augment Credits (Figure 195) which can be used to obtain other items in the Augment Faction Store. To purchase the Augment Credits, you will need to mine, or steal, Corrupted Data and Decoded Data on a regular, reoccurring basis. Unlike in the Materials tab section of this article, stealing Decoded Data is a good option, especially during Decoded Data mining events. However, Corrupted Data, is typically not a good option for theft due to the extremely small mining nodes which forces players to be actively resetting their node every few seconds. Although stealing is a good option for Decoded Data, a much more consistent option is to mine both Decoded Data and Corrupted Data yourself. Over time I have acquired three Botany Bays and with these I can spend a few hours mining which will last me several weeks. Look at the upper right of Figure 195 where you can see that I have 1.3 million in Decoded Data. This was after a recent mining session as described above. Once you claim the Augment Credits the reset timer is 22 hours (Figure 199).
Once you have enough Augment Credits, the most important items are the Augment Recruit VI and Augment Recruit III (Figure 195). NOTE: Some of these recruits are better than others which will be covered in another article. Figure 200 and Figure 201 show the officer shards that you can obtain through the Augment Recruit VI and Augment Recruit III options. Once claimed the reset timer for the Augment Recruit VI and Augment Recruit III options is 22 hours (Figure 202). NOTE: What you see in the examples below may differ slightly from what you see in your Augment Faction Store as the items available are based upon your Augment Reputation Level.
Although not covered in this article, Common Plutonium, Uncommon Plutonium, and Rare Plutonium may be important to you if you are still upgrading your Botany Bay as you will need these items to upgrade this ship. Although Independent Credits are a difficult resource to obtain, they are too expensive in the Augment Faction Store to be worth purchasing here (Figure 194).

Rogue
Next up is the Rogue Faction Store located in the Factions section. You get to the Rogue Faction Store by clicking on the Factions button in the upper left of the main screen (Figure 203). In the Rogue Faction Store there are a multitude of valuable items that you can purchase but your access to them is dependent on your Rogue Reputation level (Figure 204). While the items that are most important will depend on you and your current circumstances, here are some items that I recommend looking at when you have access to them: Research Credits; Directives, Rep & Credit; Data to Directives; Exchange Heist Loot; and Outlaw Recruit (Figure 205 thru Figure 209).
The most import of these items, in my opinion, in regards to the Daily Grind is the Directives, Rep & Credit option (Figure 205). Within this option you can obtain Uncommon Eclipse Directives, Rare Eclipse Directives, Roque Credits, and Rogue Reputation. Uncommon and Rare Eclipse Directives are used to attack Uncommon and Rare Eclipse Armadas. If you defeat these Armadas, you will obtain Uncommon or Rare Exchange Vault Loot. This loot can then be used to purchase other items within the Rogue Faction Store. Rogue Credits are used to purchase other items within the Rogue Faction Store. Lastly, the Rogue Reputation points will increase your Rogue Reputation.
In order to claim the Directives, Rep & Credit option, you will need Eclipse Security Codes which are obtained by killing Eclipse hostiles. Even though you will want to claim this option daily, it is not necessary to kill Eclipse hostiles on a daily basis. However, you will need to kill them on some type of regular basis. This can be done once per week or every other week. You should also try to coordinate this activity with any event that requires killing Eclipse hostiles. This follows a strategy of Resource Management which will be discussed in a future article. Once claimed the reset timer for the Directives, Rep & Credit option is 22 hours (Figure 214).
The next most important item, in my opinion, in regards to the Daily Grind is the Data to Directives option (Figure 206). Within this option you can obtain Uncommon Eclipse Directives and Rare Eclipse Directives which are described above. Once claimed the reset timer for the Data to Directives option is 22 hours (Figure 215).
Research Credits are another important option to consider purchasing on a daily basis (Figure 205) at least for as long as you need them. The Outlaw Research credits are used to complete Outlaw Research (Figure 211). You will need Rogue Credits in order to purchase this option (Figure 212). Once claimed the reset timer for the Research Credits option is 22 hours (Figure 217). NOTE: You can choose between one, two, or three-chest options; but, beware the cost of these chests increase exponentially but the rewards do not (Figure 210). So, purchasing the one-chest option is the best choice.
The next most important item, in my opinion, in regards to the Daily Grind is the Outlaw Recruit option (Figure 207). Within this option you can obtain shards for the Outlaw Recruits. In order to claim one of the chest options (Figure 213) you will need Rogue Credits (Figure 212). One of the ways that you can obtain Rogue Credits is described above in the Directives, Rep & Credit option. NOTE: Some of these recruits are better than others which will be covered in another article. Figure 213 shows the officer shards that you can obtain through the Outlaw Recruits option. Once claimed the reset timer for the Outlaw Recruits option is 22 hours (Figure 216).
If you are still upgrading your Stella, you will need the Uncommon Uranium, Rare Uranium, and Epic Uranium options found in the Rogue Faction Store as these items are required to upgrade the Stella. To purchase these options you need Uncommon, Rare, and Epic Exchange Vault Loot respectively which is obtained by defeating Uncommon, Rare, or Epic Eclipse Armadas.
Although not a daily purchase, the Exchange Heist Loot is a good option to purchase (Figure 206). This will be covered in more detail in a future article. NOTE: What you see in the examples below may differ slightly from what you see in your Rogue Faction Store as the items available are based upon your Rogue Reputation Level.

Away Teams Mission list
Next, we have the Away Teams Mission list. You get to the Away Teams Mission list by clicking on the Exclamation button in the lower left of the main screen (Figure 218). In the next screen be sure you have the Away Teams tab selected (Figure 219). To start a mission, find the missions with the blue Start button (Figure 219). I usually only choose missions with one day in duration or less. In regards to the Daily Grind, look for missions that offer Away Team Credits as a reward (Figure 219) as mentioned in the Away Teams portion of the Claim section of this article. Once a mission is in progress the blue Start button will change to a blue eye button and a right-facing double chevron button (Figure 220). The blue eye button will show you who is on the mission and the double chevron button will allow to speed up the completion of the mission if you have Assignment Speed Ups available. Once a mission is complete the buttons will change to a green Report button (Figure 221). When you click the Report button you will see whether the mission was successful or not. Away Teams will be covered in more detail in a future article but some additional details can be found in Figure 222 thru Figure 224.

Next up, we have the Syndicate Affiliation. You get to the Syndicate Affiliation by clicking on the Syndicate button in the upper left of the main screen (Figure 225). In regards to the Daily Grind this task is a simple one. You just need to click on the Daily Chest option in the Syndicate Affiliation section to receive your daily allotment of Syndicate XP (Figure 226). Once you claim your daily Syndicate XP the reset timer is 22 hours (Figure 227). The Syndicate will be covered in more detail in a future article.

Faction Reputation
Lastly, we have the daily Faction Reputation options. You get to the daily Faction Reputation options by clicking on the Events button in the upper right of the main screen (Figure 228). Then on the next screen scroll to the right until you see the Daily Events box (Figure 229). Once you click on the Daily Events box, scroll to the right on the next screen until you see the three Faction Reputation boxes (Figure 230). Choose which Faction Reputation Event that you wish to join by clicking the green Join Now button. Simple right? I have forgotten this one many times!
NOTE: You may want to only join the Faction Reputation for the Faction you are currently working on as discussed in the article Faction Tips: Gaining Respected Status in All Three Factions. Also, notice that you must join the Faction Reputation each day when they reset at 12 noon EST (Figure 230).
To achieve the different tiers of any Faction Reputation Event, you need to spend resources: Parsteel, Tritanium, or Dilithium (Figure 231). This spending of the required resources can be accomplished when: repairing your ships, conducting some research, or upgrading some station modules. Conducting research or upgrading station modules can complete some of your Daily Goals as discussed in the Daily Goals section of this article.

As you can see from the length of this list, the quantity of things that can be, or need to be (depending on your perspective), performed on a daily basis are numerous. This is why it is called the Daily Grind. While some things may not be available to you at certain times or there may be things you wish to avoid as mentioned earlier, there are many important things that you should do on a daily basis for the rewards and required resources that you receive. And, due to the quantity of things that you need to do on a daily basis, it is easy to forget something or many things. Therefore, it is advisable that you create some type of list to ensure that you complete all of your required daily tasks. Whether you use a physical list or a mental one, I recommend that you develop a system that works for you so that you can complete all of your daily tasks with optimal efficiency.
