Note: This is an updated version of the Gaining Respected Status in All Three Factions Ver. 2 article.

Introduction

First, what is Faction Reputation? Faction Reputation is your level of interaction with a Faction ranging from a few levels of hostility to multiple levels of friendliness (See Table 1 below). At each level of hostility the hostile Faction will attack you whenever you venture into regions of space that Faction controls. Once you advance to a Neutral or above status with a Faction they will no longer attack you when venturing into the regions of space that Faction controls. As you progress through differing levels of friendliness with a Faction you will gain multiple benefits from that Faction as explained later on in this article.

Second, what are Faction Reputation points and how do you get them? Faction Reputation points are how your Faction Reputation with a Faction is measured and can either be negative or positive. You obtain Faction Reputation, positive or negative, through killing faction hostiles, killing Faction Armadas, completing Daily Goals, completing special events, etc.

With regards to Faction Reputation, your goal should be to earn enough Faction Reputation points to achieve the Respected level for a Faction. It is at this level that your Faction Reputation Level locks meaning it will not go below that level (See Table 1 below). As early as possible in your Star Trek Fleet Command (STFC) play, focus on one Faction until you achieve the Respected level and then move on to one of the other two Factions. The reasons for this approach are speed and efficiency which you will see in the following sections.

Table 1: Reputation List

Should you try to lock all three factions? While the answer is ultimately up to you, I believe it's a very good idea and here's why:

You get additional faction options in your Daily Goals for killing hostiles and mining

o Some of the best rewards are:

Mining: the repair speed ups, credits, and recruit tokens

Hostiles: the resources, credits, and recruit tokens

o See Figure 1 thru Figure 12

You no longer get harassed by hostiles in any of the Faction systems with the exception of augment space

o This saves resources

Being at the Respected level for a Faction opens up purchasing options in the Faction store for that particular Faction

o For example, at the Respected level you can use credits to purchase the USS Enterprise, Auger, and D4 blueprints for the respective Faction

Once you reach the Respected level in a Faction you’re locked, meaning you cannot go below that level

o This is what allows you to achieve the Respected level for each Faction

General Tips List

Here is a list of some general tips to help you achieve the Respected level in each Faction:

Daily Goals – Mining

If they're available, do not do any of the Daily Goals from the other two factions as this will work against you

o You can still mine all materials, but do not click on the check marks for the other two factions in the Daily Goals list

For example, in Figure 15, I have not clicked the Federation Miner check box since I am working on my Klingon reputation

clip_image032[6]

Figure 15: Daily Goals - Mining

Daily Goals – Hunting Hostiles

If they're available, do not do any of the Daily Goals from the other two factions as this will work against you

o You can still kill hostiles, but do not click on the check marks for the other two factions in the Daily Goals list

For example, in Figure 16, I have not clicked the Federation Champion checkbox since I am working on my Klingon reputation

clip_image034[6]

Figure 16: Daily Goals - Hostiles

o One exception: Do not kill hostiles from the faction that you are working on as this will work against you

For example, in Figure 17, if I were to kill this level 40 Klingon hostile while working on my Klingon reputation, I would lose 1,472 Klingon faction points

clip_image036[6]

Figure 17: Klingon Hostile Example

o When killing hostiles for Daily Goals or just for faction points, focus on transports and scouts as they give you more faction points

I have found a two-ship strategy works well

You can either set each ship by a regeneration node and kill the hostiles when they appear or…

You can take both ships around the system in a clockwise or counterclockwise manner killing the transports as you go

Pick a system and transport level where you can kill 40 to 60 transport ships before your ship dies

This will save on resources

For example, when I was working on my Klingon reputation, I would hunt in the Altanea system

This system has transports with level 37-39

I mostly ignored the level 38 and 39 transports

Here are the stats from an experiment that I conducted to demonstrate why I mostly hunted level 37 transports:

clip_image038[4]

Figure 18: Hostile Hunt Experiment

As you can see, by hunting level 37 transports rather than by hunting level 38 and level 39 transports, I earned more faction points (more than double) before my ship would die

Level 39 transports give 1,308 faction points (Figure 18)

clip_image041[6]

Figure 19: Faction points for a Level 39 Transport

Level 38 transports give 1,082 faction points (Figure 20)

clip_image043[6]

Figure 20: Faction points for a Level 38 Transport

Level 37 transports give 888 faction points (Figure 21)

clip_image045[6]

21: Faction points for a Level 37 Transport

Level 38 scouts give 1,623 faction points (Figure 22)

clip_image047[4]

Figure 22: Faction points for a Level 38 Scout

Remember, you need to choose a system and transport level that works for you

Watch out for scouts as they give more points than other ships of the same level (Figure 18 and Figure 22)

Remember that the Messages you earn for killing scouts can be traded in for credits in the faction store

clip_image049[6]

clip_image051[6]

Figure 23: Faction Store examples

Note: It costs more messages for credits at the Respected level so use them as much as possible before you hit the Respected level

At the Associate level it costs 70 Messages for 240 credits – [3.43 credits per Message] (Figure 23)

At the Respected level it costs 180 Messages for 350 credits – [1.94 credits per Message] (Figure 23)

As you can see it is much more efficient to use as many of your Messages for credits prior to hitting the Respected level

Note: Try to time achieving your next reputation level to occur soon after you exchange messages for credits because when you move to the next higher reputation level your faction store items reset. This will allow you to do two pulls back-to-back.

I used this technique to buy extra faction credits to trade for the three faction mining ships: Valkis, K’Vort, and USS Antares

I also used this technique to buy extra faction credits to trade for Enterprise, Auger, and D4 blueprints

Note: The warship blueprints become available in the faction store once you reach the Respected level

o I tried to kill between 100 and 200 transports, above the Daily Goals, each day

The way I tracked this was by looking at the item totals (Figure 24)

Since hostiles do not always drop items, this method will mean that you are killing more than the number of items listed

clip_image053[4]

Figure 24: Items

Daily Events – Reputation Event!

The Reputation Event is a great way to earn faction points for spending resources which you are going to spend anyway (Figure 25)

clip_image055[6]

Figure 25: Klingon Reputation Event

Make sure you join the Reputation Event each day only for the faction you are focused on (Figure 26)

clip_image057[6]

Figure 26: Reputation Event

Do not join the Reputation Events from the other two factions as this will make it take longer to achieve the Respected level in the faction that you're focused on

o As you can see in Figure 26, I only joined and completed the Klingon Reputation Event since I am working on my Klingon Reputation

For example, note the negative faction points for the other two factions in Figure 27, Figure 28, Figure 29, and Figure 30

o Faction points that you earn may vary, but here is an example of what I earn at each day at each level of the Klingon Reputation Event

At level one, you can earn 5,400 faction points (Figure 27)

clip_image059[6]

Figure 27: Klingon Reputation Event level one rewards

At level two, you can earn 10,800 faction points (Figure 28)

clip_image061[6]

Figure 28: Klingon Reputation Event level two rewards

At level three, you can earn 21,600 faction points (Figure 29)

clip_image063[6]

Figure 29: Klingon Reputation Event level three rewards

At level four, you can earn 43,200 faction points (Figure 30)

clip_image065[6]

Figure 30: Klingon Reputation Event level four rewards

Borg Refinery

You can earn faction points in the Borg refinery (Figure 31)

clip_image067[6]

Figure 31: Borg Refinery

o Note: The higher level your Vi’dar, the more faction points you can earn in the Borg refinery

It is well worth your time to tier up your Vi’dar

In Figure 32, at my Vi’dar tier, I earn 52,000 Klingon faction points

Note: As your Vi’dar tier increases so does the amount of inert nanoprobes you will need for the Borg refinery (Figure 32)

clip_image069[6]

Figure 32: Borg Refinery - Klingon Faction Points

You should also know that you can buy faction credits in the Borg refinery as well (Figure 33)

o I used this technique to buy extra faction credits to trade for the three faction mining ships: Valkis, K’Vort, and USS Antares

o I also used this technique to buy extra faction credits to trade for Enterprise, Auger, and D4 blueprints

Note: The warship blueprints become available in the faction store once you reach the Respected level

clip_image071[6]

Figure 33: Borg Refinery - Klingon Credits

Faction Missions

Only do faction missions for the faction that you're focused on

o Since the faction missions give faction points this will help you achieve the Respected level faster

In the example shown in Figure 34 and Figure 35 you see that for the completion of this mission you earn 100,000 faction points

clip_image073[6]

Figure 34: Faction Mission Example

Do not do any faction missions for the factions that you're not focused on

o For example, in Figure 35, the completion of this mission earns:

-140,800 Romulan faction points

-52,800 Federation faction points

clip_image075[4]

Figure 35: Faction Mission Rewards Example

Faction Hunt Event

For Faction Hunt Events, only focus on the faction that you're working on

o Do not participate in the faction hunt for the factions that you are not working on as this will work against you

See Daily Goals – Hunting Hostiles

Other Miscellaneous events

Watch out for events that will give you negative faction points for the faction that you are working on

o Do not participate in these events as this will work against you

Borg Research

You should complete the three Borg research options in the Galaxy Research tree as soon as possible (Figure 36)

o These Borg research options will boost your rewards respectively:

Prime Borg Rewards

Nanoprobe Hunter

Prime Active Nanoprobes Refining

clip_image077[4]

Figure 36: Galaxy Research Tree

Note: Completing these three research items will translate into more faction points that you can earn through the Borg Refinery

Armadas

Armadas can earn faction points but they are not as effective or efficient as hunting hostiles

When attacking armada targets, pay attention to the faction points received

o While you will not get negative points like when hunting the wrong faction hostiles, you may not get any points at all

o For example, if you are working on your Klingon reputation,

A Federation Uncommon Level 31 Armada Target (Figure 37) would give you 432 Klingon faction points

A Romulan Uncommon Level 31 Armada Target (Figure 38) would give you 872 Klingon faction points

A Klingon Uncommon Level 31 Armada Target (Figure 39) would give you 0 Klingon faction points

Away Teams

With the introduction of Away Teams, you have an additional method to obtain Reputation points

When completing Away Team missions focus on missions that give Away Team Credits (Figure 40)

clip_image085[6]

Figure 40: Away Teams Mission List

Away Team Credits can be earned through Assignment Success Rewards or Critical Success Rewards

o Note: You will always get more credits through the Critical Success Rewards

You will want to get your Assignment Success percentage above 90% to have a good chance of success (Figure 41)

Note: Going way above 100% doesn’t increase your chances of success beyond 100% but it will increase the reward multiplier

The reward multiplier is a multiplier added to the rewards if the assignment has officers that push the success rate over 100% (Figure 41)

You want to get your Critical Success percentage above 30%, if possible, to have a decent chance of winning the Critical Success Rewards (Figure 41)

clip_image087[6]

Figure 41: Chance of Success

Once you have enough Away Team Credits…

Click on the Claim box (Figure 42)

At the bottom of the screen, scroll all the way to the right and click on Away Teams (Figure 43)

You will then see Reputation Rewards for each faction (Figure 44), click on the appropriate faction

Then, depending on how many credits you have, click on 1, 2, or 3 chests (Figure 45)

Note: The amount of reputation you can earn is tied to your reputation level. As your reputation increases, so does the amount you can earn.

Syndicate Affiliation

With the introduction of the Syndicate affiliation, you can boost your rewards in some of the Daily Goals

o For example, at Syndicate Affiliation Level 15 (Figure 46), Level 20 (Figure 47) and Level 25 (Figure 48) you get a bonus increase in your faction rewards

Even at lower levels you will get bonus increases to things such as Piercing and Mitigation (Figure 49) which can indirectly help you obtain faction reputation

clip_image103[6]

Figure 49: Syndicate Affiliation Level 4 & 5

In addition to the Daily Goals bonus, you can earn extra Faction Reputation when killing Faction hostiles by achieving certain Syndicate XP levels:

At Syndicate XP level 20 there is a Faction Reputation Bonus. The bonus is dependent upon your ops level and both are listed below:

·      Ops Level 10-19: 2%

·      Ops Level 20-29: 2%

·      Ops Level 30-39: 2%

·      Ops Level 40-50: 6%

·      Ops Level 51-60: 10%

At Syndicate XP level 22 there is another Faction Reputation Bonus. The bonus is dependent upon your ops level and both are listed below:

·      Ops Level 10-19: 3%

·      Ops Level 20-29: 3%

·      Ops Level 30-39: 3%

·      Ops Level 40-50: 10%

·      Ops Level 51-60: 10%

At Syndicate XP level 24 there is another Faction Reputation Bonus. The bonus is dependent upon your ops level and both are listed below:

·         Ops Level 10-19: 5%

·         Ops Level 20-29: 5%

·         Ops Level 30-39: 5%

·         Ops Level 40-50: 15%

·         Ops Level 51-60: 20%

To better understand how Faction Reputation points are calculated when killing a Faction hostile utilizing the Syndicate XP Faction Reputation bonus, see the article: Faction Reputation: Calculating Officer Ability, Ship Ability, Exocomps, etc.

Exocomps and Consumables

With the introduction of Exocomps and Consumables you now have another way to speed up your Reputation gains

Here we are talking specifically about the Reputation Consumables

o For example, as you can see in Figure 50, there are Consumables to boost reputation such as +70% Klingon Reputation and +70% Romulan Reputation

o Note: Since these types of Consumables are of the Galaxy Exocomp type, they have to be activated before you leave your station

o Note: These Reputation Consumables do not affect faction reputation gained from chest or mission/event rewards
